How much does a marriage counselor make?

or a student counselor or a family counselor.I have this girl that says she is going to be a marriage family student counselor. Is that even possible to be all three at one time. And she says she will make 120 a hour is that even close to what she would make. And how much collage would you need for that. How much does a marriage counselor make?
$120 an hour is a little high, but not absolutely absurd for an experienced and well-established counselor.

Yes, she could be all three types, but she'd likely have to choose one to focus on. If she's going to have her own practice (where the real money is), then being a student counselor is not likely going to be a good option because a student counselor would be working at a school...she can't be in two places at once.

She'd likely need at least her master's to counsel anyone. That's about 6 years of college, if she goes full time. If she wants to make that $120 an hour, then she's going to need her doctorate. That's about 8 years of college.

In response to someone else's posting, insurance companies DO sometimes pay for mental health counseling, including marraige and family counseling. How much does a marriage counselor make?
1) First you need to know how to spell ';college'; in order to get into college.

2) You need at least a masters degree to be licensed to be a family counselor in most states.

3) $125 an hour is a bit high in most cases. Try $50 or so until you get established. Keep in mind insurance does NOT pay for this so you have to find people that can afford to blow that kind of money in the first place!
